Inspire Your Story

The Museum is our playground as we tell stories, snap selfies and explore Jewish identity through guided activities and group discussions.
Jewish values, language, culture, ritual and the role of Israel all come into play as we delve into collective memory and global interconnectedness.

Repairing the World

A Path to Social Action How can people and communities repair the world?
The tour looks at Jews who have acted boldly to effect social change through courage, creativity, and innovation. Visitors explore questions
of what makes someone a hero and how a community can influence and create positive change.

My Story, Our Story

(Family Groups, Synagogue Missions, Bar/Bat Mitzvah groups)

A journey through the Museum illustrates each particular family’s cultural heritage. What unites us, and how are we unique? Life cycle events and
holiday displays are highlighted as an opportunity to discuss how  communities celebrate these moments together.

Working Towards Jewish Peoplehood

Beit Hatfutsot, the Museum of the Jewish People, has been celebrating the story of the Jewish people since it opened its doors in 1978, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Beit Hatfutsot, a national institution, is where people from all around the world can come and learn about the stories of the Jewish people from all places and historical periods.

The Koret International School for Jewish Peoplehood Studies (ISJPS) within Beit Hatfutsot promotes and enhances knowledge, understanding, awareness and experience of contemporary Jewish identity, based on our exhibitions as well as our archives.  We engage people from around the world with the unique and ongoing story of the Jewish People.

Beit Hatfutsot’s educational  guided tours and programs create an inspiring connection to the Jewish people, by highlighting these questions, paradoxes and concepts:

  • Jewish Peoplehood: What makes the Jews a people?
  • Collective Memory: Over different generations, different places and different languages – How does a similar story unite the Jewish people?
  • Israel: With a land, without a land, in our Homeland – What’s Israel’s part of the story?
  • Jewish Values: What’s the added value to the story?
  • Hebrew: Does the story sound better in Hebrew?
  • Why identify with the Jewish people today?

Feedback

“It proved to be one of the best conferences I have attended, specifically in regard to the willingness and passion of the participants to listen to each other and build a shared understanding of what this new/old concept of Jewish Peoplehood means… Jewish Peoplehood is not a vacuous slogan; to the contrary, it is very important to our future.”

Dr. Bill Robinson, Chief Planning and Knowledge Officer of the New York Board of Jewish Education, and a member of the Jewish Peoplehood Task Force.
